Watercolour Landscapes
PAUL RILEY

"Riley has produced one of the finest volumes on watercolour landscapes available. a brilliant, inspiring book."
                   Library Journal, New York

Originally published under the title Intimate Landscapes, this new paperback edition gives clear, step-by-step guidance on all aspects of landscape painting from choice of materials to special techniques.
The freshness of PAUL RILEY's watercolours have made him a highly successful artist, and his ability to communicate these skills is confirmed by his popularity as a teacher.
   As with his bestselling book
Flower Painting, PAUL RILEY's step-by-step techniques teach the aspiring artist how to avoid the many pitfalls which so often beset the landscape painter. Muddy colours are banished from the palette, and he shows how to achieve crisp and vibrant hues.
Paul finds much of his inspiration in the quiet, often neglected corners of the landscape and he demonstrates how these can provide an endless source of material. His subjects range from the humble vegetable garden to the tranquillity of the early morning salmon fishermen, and desert sands to white water waves on the seashore.
